 CareerPrep Baseball Academy

CareerPrep is a youth baseball academy providing learning experiences that includes high level coaching/training to develop athletic skills and talents, tutoring and learning sessions to enhance high school, college, and career readiness, and a mentorship program.

Over the past several decades there has been a decline of youth baseball participation in underserved communities. Our mission with CareerPrep is to provide resources, support, and positive experiences— and to bridge the opportunity gap. Our program serves youth ages 6-10 that are interested in developing and strengthening their baseball talents and desire to prepare for successful careers on and off the playing field.

Programs and Educationally Purposeful Activities for Youth

CareerPrep services include four components— (1) quality instruction to develop athletic skills and talents, (2) tutoring and learning sessions to enhance high school, college, and career readiness, (3) mentorship program, and (4) program assessment tools.

Travel Ball

Our travel ball program gives our youth the opportunity to take what they have learned from training and apply it on a competitive level. We know that teaching the basic fundamentals at an early age is important for building confidence and success. We also know that playing baseball year-round can be expensive, which is a plausible explanation for the decline of baseball in underserved communities. With the help of our resources and sponsorship, we strive to help reduce the high costs of playing competitive baseball for youth and families.

Tutoring and Learning Sessions

CareerPrep provides tutoring and high-quality learning sessions. Topics can include (but are not limited to) time management/organization and goal setting, strategies for improving high school and college readiness, knowing your rights: NCAA rules and policies, striking a healthy balance between academic and athletic identities, classroom strategies to enhance learning, internships: gearing up for career success, and educational benefits of school engagement activities.

Performance and Data Analytics Pathway Program

This program seeks to identify, develop, and grow the pool of qualified candidates for on-field and baseball operations and data analytics positions. Through a Video Analytics Bootcamp, participating youth will learn the empirical analysis of baseball with special attention to collecting and summarizing relevant data from in-game activity. Over time, participating youth will be able to make sound data-driven decisions about player and team performance.

Mentorship

Our leadership team consists of experienced coaches, educators, and both current/former athletes who serve as mentors.

Program Assessment Tools

CareerPrep employs assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of all programs. Pre and post testing and interviews will examine behavioral change in overall dispositions and learning (knowledge, skills, and attitudes) among program participants. In addition, findings are shared, in the form of newsletters and/or electronic communications, with the broader public, documenting the successes of the programs.
